Sometimes we need cautionary tales
I’ve known many cautionary tales
I miss them, I’m sorry they went out that way
Many have mirrored that sentiment
But I cannot remember anyone giving thanks
Thank you for driving into the back of a truck
Thank you for overdosing in a cheap motel
Thank you for hitting the fence then the tree
Thank you
One cautionary tale can make a difference
And I’ve known quite a few
Thanks for keeping us safe
